About This Workshop

Urban landscapes are among the favorite subjects for watercolorists. In this class, we will learn how to add emotion and create atmosphere in our cityscapes. Special attention will be given to:

  1. How to choose the right colors and build a palette for each project based on your creative goals.
  2. How to work with color effectively to express emotions and mood in an urban scene.
  3. How to construct spatial depth and convey a sense of distance.
  4. How to depict different lighting conditions: daylight, night scenes, and overcast weather.

We will also focus on selecting meaningful details and how to direct the viewer’s attention to the main subject. And, as always, you can expect individual attention and guidance from the instructor throughout the entire workshop.

The main goal is not just to depict streets and urban views, but to infuse our watercolors with mood and atmosphere. We will learn how to build a project step by step, based on artistic goals — defining the color palette, composition, selecting subjects, and focusing on the essential elements. And of course, throughout the workshop, you can count on a personalized approach and individual guidance from the instructor.
