He has won numerous awards, such as the Col. Red Smith Memorial Award from the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, WY and the “Artist’s Choice Award” at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center and Museum in Cody, WY, each two times, and “Artist’s Choice Award” at Coors Western Art Exhibit in Denver, CO.
He has an extensive exhibition record including: National Academy, NY; American Watercolor Society, NY; Gilcrease Museum, OK; and Prix de West Invitational, OK. Listed in Who’s Who in American Art, Whitcomb’s work has been featured several times in Southwest Art, American Artist, Plein Air Magazine, The Pastel Journal, and Western Art and Architecture, among others.
